Most people seem to get the word Rasta and Yardie confused, hence the many sterotyping projected towards Rastafarians. Rastas are up for Afrikan empowerment and follow the scriptures, abidding by the Most High’s rules and commandments who is known as JAH RASTAFARI. There is discipline in the Rastafarian religion so it would be some what appropriate to say that Yardie’s are the opposites of rastas. They you would say are the undiscipline bunch like found in any religion.
Again note that I am not into religion for it divides humans influencing humans to kill humans, only the human race loses (the devil and the other fallen angels indeed roam the earth influencing this). Use to have a Rastafarian friend back in university who taught me a few things about the way of life. Very cool headed guy.
The Rastafarian flag is Green, Gold, Red.
Green– is the strength and life of the Afrikan. It ultimately signify HOPE.
Gold (with the Lion in it)– is the sun, mineral and Wealth. It ultimately signifies CHARITY.
Red– is the blood of innocence and ancestors which was shed in defense of I and I (meaning our) liberty and prosperity. It ultimately signifies FAITH.
I – Means The pure, essential aspect of Iration, which is in mankind. Being that it symbolisms purity, then it is used in everything. Do note that I and I is different from I-I. I and I means we, our and us (plural sounds) and I-I is the acknowledgement of one’s essence.
It is said that Israel’s special favour with the Almighty was because they were of Ethiopian descent. Which is proven in Amos ch 9 verse 7:
‘Are ye not as Children of the Ethiopians unto me, O Children of Israel? Saith the Lord.’
Eden (as in the Garden of Eden) has been found to be or was in the continent of Ethiopia (Afrika) and specifically in the country of Ethiopia.
The Maroons of the hills of Jamaica are famous for going being resisters of slavery. They are the blacks that rebelled and ran away to the Island. The word Maroons comesfrom the Spanish word cimarrones meaning ‘wild ones.’ They were wild indeed.
It were these people that maintained and still highly uplifted the ancient way, the way of ancient Ethiopia.Before Marcus Garvey (a Maroon descendant) they were preaching of a King to come and bring black redemption and regulation to mankind. That king is now known as Rastafari, Negus Tafari, Haile Selassie I.
The Maroon (Wild ones) people
Marcus Mosiah Garvey was born on 17th August 1887 in the parish of St. Ann, Jamaica.He was always in the forefront of the war of freedomand justice for the Afrikan race.

In 1914, Prophet Garvey founded the Univeral Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in Jamaica. Its motto was: One God! One Aim! One Destiny!
It was the followers of Garvey in Jamaica that became known for preaching that Haile Selassie I is the Black God and King of Ethiopia that the Maroons preached that would come, therefore fulfilling the biblical prophesies in Isaiah chapter 9 verse 6:
‘For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’
Daniel chapter7 verse 9:
‘As I looked, thrones were placed and one that was ancient of days took his seat; his raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, its wheels were burning fire.’
Psalms 87 verse 4:
‘I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me–Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush–and will say, ‘This one was born in Zion.’
1 Timothy chapter 6 verse 13 to 16:
13 ‘I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and [before] Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep [this] commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honour and power everlasting. Amen.’
Revelations chapter 17 verse 14:
They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.’
Revelations chapter 19 verse 11-16:
11 ‘And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.’
and Revelations chapter 5 verse 3 and 5:
3 ‘And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.’

It is believed that the prophesies were fulfilled 2nd November 1930 with the crowning of Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia. His full title being ‘His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Salassie I; King of kings, Lord of lords, who is believed to be the conquering Lion of Judah.

The first and most prominent preachers that taught that Ras Tafari Haile Selassie I was a GodHead was Papa Gong-g’un Guru Maragh also known as Leonard Percival Howard.

Joseph Nathaniel Hibbert, owner of a banana plantation in Costa Rica, a Master Freemason and President of the then Local 81 branch (meeting place for Rastafarian) of the UNIA (Univeral Negro Improvement Association) soon started to preach that Emperor Haile Selassie I was the returned Messiah after his return to Jamaica in 1931. He was encouraged to find that Leonard P Howard was doing the same. Joseph Nathaniel Hibbert was born in 1894.

(T)ruth
(Y)ielding to the Iivine (divine) Will for Rights and Responsibility, Peace and Prosperity.
The dreadlock is symbolic of the Lion mane and strength (think samson). It is grown to represent the Afrika, the wolly hair grown without combing.
